Provider of national and international fixed line services in Jamaica, Cable & Wireless Jamaica, is offering, for the first time, hosted PBX (News - Alert) and integrated access services in a bid to help businesses cost effectively make the move to VoIP.

To power the providers new Broadband Telephone System, they looked to VoIP application software provider, BroadSoft (News - Alert) Inc. for their BroadWorks application platform.

With the BroadWorks platform, it will be possible for Cable & Wireless (News - Alert) Jamaica to offer small and mid-sized businesses across the island VoIP services including hosted PBX and integrated access services.

"To be competitive, it's essential for today's operators to include VoIP in their suite of services," said Rodney Davis, CEO of Cable & Wireless Jamaica in a statement to the press.

"The high-quality and feature-rich BroadWorks platform eases the transition to VoIP without the need for significant additional network investment. Because we can now offer VoIP without the need for capital equipment expenditures, we reduce costs while offering the services our small and medium business customers are demanding," also commented Davis.

Leveraging the benefits of VoIP, it will be possible to more effectively and cost efficiently have business communications. And, with the Hosted PBX, businesses no longer need to worry about the cost and maintenance needed for on premise based solutions and can instead concentrate on other business needs to further drive success.

According to a news release, the new system will enable businesses to "connect their customer premises equipment to BroadWorks over any form of IP connectivity and gain the benefits of IP without transitioning to a fully hosted solution."

Businesses with multiple locations will also benefit from the offering as they can more efficiently stay connected. Also included will be a disaster recovery solution that reroutes calls so telephone service is never lost.
