In a bid to offer enhanced services and better serve their customers UMB Bank, a provider of banking and financial services for individual and business customers has chosen AT&T (News - Alert) Inc. to provide a number of network services.

AT&T has signed multiple contracts with UMB Bank for network services that support the banks VoIP strategy to migrate from PBX (News - Alert) to a standard VoIP platform.

To do so, AT&T will provide Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based Virtual Private Network (VPN) services as well as equipment maintenance services and a dedicated account team for UMB Bank.

With AT&T, UMB Bank is able to use one platform for operating all of its branches as well as allow secure, reliable transport of critical applications and make communications with remote and local employee, customers and vendors possible.

"When UMB Bank set out to migrate to a VoIP system, we needed a solution that would not only provide a secure network but also a way to do business more efficiently," said Bill Taylor (News - Alert), vice president of Network Engineering, UMB Bank in a statement. "Considering these needs, AT&T stood out as the clear choice."

Other functionalities resulting from the partnership between AT&T and UMB Bank include the ability to offer 24-hour online banking capabilities so consumers can manage and utilize banking functions whenever they need as well as offer podcasts covering financial basics.

UMB Bank has also enhanced phone banking to now offer access to account information as well as other advanced capabilities like finding the nearest bank or ATM machine, while also offering Web Hosting and secure ATM transactions.
