Pannaway Adds New Ethernet/IP Capabilities to Inteleflex Platform, Now Called MAGNM-FX, and Integrates it into its SCN ArchitecturePannaway (News - Alert) Networks, formerly Pannaway Technologies, has reportedly added new functionality to its award-winning Service Convergence Network (SCN) architecture.
Specifically, the company has added new Ethernet/IP “We have viewed BAM as an essential element of our customers’ broadband network deployments since Pannaway’s inception,” said Michael Skubisz, chief technologist for Pannaway, in a press release. “With this latest BAM software enhancement, we’ve ensured that our customers will have the ability to remotely manage every component of their Pannaway network, including the Inteleflex/MAGNM-FX platform and its new Ethernet/IP network components.” To explain further, Inteleflex was renamed MAGNM-FX after Pannaway integrated its Packet Transport Module (PTM) into the Inteleflex platform, and then integrated it into the SCN. The PTM allows the former Inteleflex platform to serve as a bi-directional bridge or pivot point between next-generation Ethernet and legacy SONET The PTM is available in two models -- PTM 04 and 06 -- each supporting GbE transport, uplink, & shelf expansion; 4 x 1 GbE ports via SFP Optical Modules; 2 x 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 Ethernet ports; 2 x 10 GbE ports via XFP Optical Modules (PTM-06 only); Standards Based EAPS (RFC-3619) Sub-50 millisecond transport recovery; and IEEE Select Pannaway customers will be partaking in beta trials of the enhanced BAM software and the PTM in the second quarter of 2008. Noah Covington, Plant Manager of Pembroke Telephone in Georgia, said “the release of the PTM provides continued investment protection for the Inteleflex installed base and provides new opportunities to leverage the move to Ethernet Pannaway is expected to announce new FTTH options for its MAGNM-20 platform, as well as a new iteration of its network fabric, in the weeks to come. It will also be announcing new enhancements, including new options for the provisioning of mobile backhaul Mark Carpenter, president of Pannaway, said the company is “100 percent committed to simplifying the evolution of legacy networks on the terms that best suit our customers, and the infusion of new SCN elements such as these MAGNM products and BAM enhancements is a testament to our commitment.” Pannaway made news on TMCnet last week when it announced its name change to Pannaway Networks and also announced that it has strengthened its management team with the addition of Ed Buchner, formerly with Siemens (News - Alert) Communications, as the company’s Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Partner Development, as well as Kevin Brown, another seasoned telecom executive, to the newly created position of Vice President of Solutions and Product Marketing. Together these two will help Pannaway expand its portfolio of telecommunications service delivery platforms and grow its revenue. The company also made news in December when it announced that its solutions, including its embedded components, fabric materials and line access modules, have received RUS technical acceptance. Pannaway offers carrier-grade access network systems for North American IOCs and CLECs. The company helps service providers make the transition to all-IP networks, which in turn helps them deliver advanced multimedia services, (including triple and quadruple play, HDTV, On Demand TV, etc.). Its Service Convergence (News - Alert) Network (SCN) architecture lets service providers roll out these advanced multimedia services quickly, reliably and inexpensively, thus enabling to compete in the market. Currently, more than 300 service providers are using Pannaway’s broadband access and transport solutions.
