Genesys Conferencing has developed a VoIP softphone that is fully integrated with the company’s flagship multimedia conferencing service, Genesys (News - Alert) Meeting Center.

The Genesys VoIP Softphone use VoIP and their PCs to connect moderators and participants to the audio portion of a Genesys Meeting Center virtual meeting. The new release doesn’t conflict with any existing VoIP solution that an enterprise may have deployed or planning to deploy.

Genesys’ VoIP Softphone has low bandwidth requirement and uses an economical 10-kbps data stream. The travelling and remote employees can use it to connect to online meetings easily and economically from any facility via the public Internet.

Additionally, the Genesys VoIP Softphone is both secure and firewall-friendly. It can utilize HTTP over port 80, and easily bypass customer firewalls.

Moreover its security is assured with a proprietary compression method and file format and uses the 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) on all voice streams.

“With the simplicity and efficiency of its new softphone, Genesys Conferencing provides yet another reason for enterprises to consider a conferencing service provider,” said Frost & Sullivan’s Roopam Jain, principal analyst for conferencing and collaboration, in a press release.

He continued: “In addition, the softphone’s low bandwidth requirements make it especially well-suited for a large enterprise.”
