April 29 is Webmaster DayIn case you needed another little-known holiday to put on your calendar for an underappreciated group of professionals, here’s another one to add: Webmaster Day, and from hereon forth, it shall occur on the 29th of April. Mark it well.
The official day has been designated by GoDaddy, which provides a variety of domain name registration plans and Web site design and hosting packages, as well as an array of on-demand services.
“The Internet wouldn’t be where it is today without this underappreciated group who keep content on the ‘net fresh,” GoDaddy.com CEO and Founder Bob Parsons (News - Alert) said. “I think a day to remind everyone of how vital Webmasters are is way overdue.”
The Webmasters, too, think it’s a great idea.
“We think it’s great Webmasters are being recognized for their efforts. Webmasters are not ‘geeks’ who sit in the server closet, they are integral parts of companies now,” said Bill Cullifer, Executive Director, World Organization of Webmasters. “During the last ten years, the Internet changed the way we as a society interact. Webmasters are key to Internet development.”
So what to buy for the Webmaster who has everything? Here are some suitable gift registry ideas (if you’ll forgive some of them for using the term “geek”).
So, prepare to celebrate the Webmaster (or Webmistress, let’s not be sexist) and mark April 29th on your calendars.
Just don’t use Outlook.
