Luxembourg-based Skype (News - Alert), a provider of Internet phone service, has recently announced a new calling subscription especially for International callers that will enable them to make unlimited long distance calls for just few dollars a month.

The new offering comes with three service options and provides users with a flat monthly rate for calling landline numbers in 34 countries.

As per the first option, users in the U.S and Canada can choose to make unlimited calls to landline and cell phones across Canada and the United States for just $2.95 per month.

Customers in the U.S and Canada can also avail the second option which allows them to make unlimited calls to landline and cell phones in the U.S. and Canada, and to landlines in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey for just $5.95 per month.

The third option allows users to pay just $9.95 per month and for unlimited calls to landline and cell phones in 34 countries and to Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.

“This move is a natural step for Skype. Skype was founded on the principle of making free voice and video calls available to people all around the world,” said Stefan Oberg, vice president and general manager telecoms at the Luxembourg-based Skype.

"And now we're making it even easier for the Skype community to call their friends and family who are not yet on Skype. “Our subscriptions give people an easy, hassle-free choice for how and when they want to catch up with their loved ones.”

Skype also announced that it is offering one-third off its rates for new subscriptions for a three-month or 12-month period for customers who sign up before June 1st.

All subscriptions also include a Skype to Go number, which lets users make international calls at local rates from a cell phone or landline phone.

And, Skype is also offering a similar calling subscription which includes an online number so users in the U.S. can have a flat 50 percent discount on the purchase of an online number.
