Telco Systems has acquired the assets of Critical Telecom Corp., a developer of broadband enabling platforms for IP-based access networks. Telco Systems provides carrier-class transport and access solutions for public and private IP and TDM networks.

The Critical GEmini is purpose-built for outside plants. It is an Ethernet remote DSLAM offering integrated GigE backhaul and a modular port scalability architecture. The GEmini leverages an existing copper infrastructure to deliver fiber-grade services at a low total cost of deployment.

The GEmini offers non-blocking ADSL2+, which enables applications like VoIP, triple-play services, IPTV (News - Alert) and high-speed Internet access. The product line is now part of Telco Systems and will be support from the company’s existing facility in Ottawa, Canada. Telco Systems’ suite of products offers solutions for Metro Ethernet Access Rings, residential and enterprise VoIP, FTTx, SONET, WiFi (News - Alert) and T1 backhaul.

“Critical Telecom’s GEmini fits perfectly into Telco Systems’ IP-based product offering for access networks,” said Dr. Zvi Marom, founder and CEO of BATM, Telco Systems’ parent company. “The product extends Telco Systems market reach into DSL-connected neighborhoods with an IP-based solution that enables providers to expand their customer base and portfolio of next generation applications.”

“Critical Telecom's innovations in the IP-DSLAM market have created a new approach to solving the challenges of broadband access. We are confident that our customers will benefit from the broad range of IP solutions offered by Telco Systems as they continue to expand their subscriber base," said Nancy Macartney, president and CEO of Critical Telecom.
