Vonage and HP to Save Customers Up to 50 Percent on Phone Bills

VoIP service provider Vonage announced Friday a special Vonage (News - Alert) (News - Alert) phone service offer for HP and Compaq PC customers in the U.S. and Canada. Thanks to the offer, with the purchase of an HP or Compaq consumer desktop or notebook, buyers will be able to get a special offer on Vonage's residential unlimited plan.

“HP provides a terrific platform to deliver many of our new and advanced communication experiences,” said Vonage America Inc.’s president Michael Tribolet in a statement. “HP and Compaq PC customers now have access to feature-rich communication services for up to half of what they would pay for traditional phone service.”

The deal will have HP and Compaq consumer desktop and notebook PCs in the U.S. and Canada be pre-packaged with a Vonage brochure or an interactive CD-ROM in the PC box explaining details about the service. The brochure, which outlines the benefits of Vonage service, will include integrated communications services, a suite of features, and contact management. This will enable customers to sign-up via their computer desktop or contact a toll-free number to receive the special offer for Vonage service.

“HP is committed to providing customers with all the tools they need to enjoy their digital lives,” stated Bob Lund, general manager of Worldwide Beyond-the-Box Group, HP. “We are pleased to be working with Vonage because they offer a portfolio of advanced communications ranging from PC-based phone services to full-featured residential and small-business broadband phone services.”

Vonage made news earlier this week when it announced that it is moving pretty quickly to achieve 100 percent VoIP E911 coverage. The company announced on Tuesday that over 90 percent of its subscriber lines are now equipped with E911 service, a feature that associates a physical address with the calling party's telephone number automatically.

“Today over 90 percent of our U.S. subscriber lines have full E911 capability, which is a tremendous step for Vonage,” said Vonage’s CEO Michael Snyder. “Vonage will continue to work with the FCC (News - Alert), regulators, Congress and public safety until PSAPs across the nation are equipped with E911.”
