SS8 Networks announced recently that Dr. Bülent Erbilgin, former president of platform engineering at Brocade (
News -
Alert), has joined the company as vice president of engineering.
“With a tremendous history of telecommunications innovation and proven leadership in the market, SS8 is cementing a position in unified communications while simultaneously continuing the urgent mission of enabling our customers to comply with government mandated deadlines for lawful intercept compliance,” Erbilgin said in a press release. “I look forward to working with this talented group on developing best of breed products for an ever-evolving technology landscape. While at Brocade, Erbilgin and his team developed and delivered best-in-class, multi-protocol switching platforms. A 21-year veteran of the computer industry, he has held technology leadership and management positions at several companies including Pluris, Zycad, NetFrame and HP Labs. He also served as vice president for engineering at MasPar, where he was responsible for product development of a Massively Parallel Computer.
In his new role, Erbilgin will direct development of SS8’s lawful intercept portfolio, multimedia messaging platforms and signaling products for IMS and AIN applications.
“Bülent has managed a wide range of successful technology development projects, from software applications and ASIC chip sets to large-scale computer systems and core routing switches,” said Dennis Haar, president and CEO at SS8 Networks. “His telecommunications knowledge and broad technology expertise, as well as his understanding of both developing and mature companies, are a perfect fit for our management team.”
Erbilgin holds a master’s degree in computer science and a doctoral degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
