8x8, Inc. and Toshiba to Co-Present WiFi Telephony Session at IT EXPO

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Contributor

When it comes to the communications technology wish lists of enterprises, mobility is today a common item to be included. Despite the benefits of wireless, though, some important questions arise when deploying 802.11-based products and services.

Common considerations involved with 802.11 is the topic of a session titled “Introduction to WiFi Telephony,” to be held at Internet Telephony Conference & EXPO (in San Diego October 10-13, 2006). The session is being presented by Karen Hong, Director of Consumer Product Marketing at 8x8, Inc.; and David Fridley, Product Manager of Toshiba’s IP Telephony Solutions department.

The session, scheduled for October 11, 2006, from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m., will address many of the issues involved with 802.11 technology.

Some of those issues include: network security, delivering enterprise-specific features throughout an 802.11 network, technical considerations when integrating 802.11 into an existing converged infrastructure, and vendor-neutral practical applications.

Attendees interested in learning more about wireless telephony can visit the booths for 8x8 (News - Alert) and Toshiba (News - Alert) at the show, #513 and #400, respectively. Even more information on the topic is available on 8x8’s TMCnet.com channel, Small Business VoIP.

If you’re attending IMS EXPO, also be sure not to miss the keynote by Bryan Martin, Chairman and CEO of 8x8, Inc. The keynote will be held October 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
