Hosted VoIP PBX Co. Broadcore to Use Telx's Manhattan Site
By Michael Dinan, TMCnet Editor
A hosted VoIP
private branch exchange provider announced today that it’s planning to use an interconnection company’s downtown Manhattan site as a base for a new geographical network redundancy service.
Los Angeles-based Broadcore (News - Alert) will use Telx’s Hudson Street facility to set up a network which businesses in the United States and abroad are expected to use for voice communication, the companies say.
According to John Lightfoot, Broadcore’s vice president of engineering, the downtown Manhattan location will be a useful vehicle for the service.
“We selected Telx’s 60 Hudson Street location because it provides us with a superior facility that enables us to reliably and confidently operate a POP that provides full redundancy for our carrier-grade Hosted PBX
service,” Lightfoot said.
Telx officials describe their company as a “world-class leader” in providing interconnectivity solutions through its network-neutral and “network rich, co-location” facilities. The company has more than a dozen facilities in North America, and officials with Telx say the company offers cost-effective networking solutions for customers to access diverse global networks and exchange information in a secure and reliable environment.
Short for private branch exchange, “PBX (News - Alert)” system users share a certain number of outside lines for making telephone calls external to the PBX. Most medium-sized and larger companies use a PBX because it’s much less expensive than connecting an external telephone line to every telephone in the organization, analysts say. It’s also easier to call someone within a PBX because the number you need to dial is typically just 3 or 4 digits.
Broadcore’s vice president of marketing and business development, Medy Shahoveissi, said the company seeks to offer customers “inherent disaster recovery through multiple redundant switches in different locations across our network.”
According to Tesh Durvasula, Telx’s chief marketing officer, Broadcore’s interest is a testament to the Telx’s reliability and growth potential.
“It is the continued confidence and reliability of companies such as Broadcore, that enable us to grow and expand in key markets nationwide,” Durvasula said.
