IPtimize Teams with BroadSoft on VoIP Applications
By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor
IPtimize, a broadband voice and data service provider, today said that it will work with BroadSoft (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of VoIP
application software, to enable IPtimize to offer a suite of advanced voice applications to its cable system customers.
IPtimize said that it plans to build its multimedia IP
services around BroadSoft’s BroadWorks VoIP application platform.
Compliant with BroadSoft’s IMS
, BroadWorks platform provides a comprehensive range of VoIP applications such as hosted unified communications, mobile PBX (News - Alert), business trunking and residential broadband services integrated into a single VoIP application platform.
This partnership, according to the companies, will provide end-users of smaller cable systems the ability to manage multiple types of communications including e-mail and voice-mail, and also their wireless and wireline telephony features.
IPtimize believes that its scalable platform will attract commercial customers, regardless of market size or if an existing softswitch
platform is in place.
Ron Pitcock, chairman and CEO at IPtimize, said that by teaming with BroadSoft, IPtimize’s cable system customers can now provide “more advanced services” that they’ve wanted to offer for a long time but that haven’t been economic or practical for them.
He also said that BroadSoft provides VoIP applications to seven of the top ten largest carriers worldwide and to some of the largest cable multi-service operators. He added: “IPtimize can help provide access to these services for smaller providers so that they too can compete in the IP world.”
Leslie Ferry, vice president of marketing at BroadSoft, said that with IPtimize’s offering, smaller multi-service operators don’t have to be excluded from offering the latest and best technology, adding “Our BroadWorks solutions help to level the playing field for them.”
This year in March, IPtimize announced that it has secured a contract with Allen’s TV Cable Service, Inc. to be the cable operator's exclusive wholesale digital voice provider.
