Percello Deploys CEVA DSP Core for Femtocell BasestationsPercello, a fabless semiconductor company serving the femtocells market, announced its decision to deploy CEVA (News - Alert)-TeakLite-III DSP (digital signal processing) core technology to develop advanced femtocell baseband chipsets.
"Femtocells (News - Alert) are poised to have a tremendous impact for the provision of wireless voice and data services in the next few years and Percello is ideally positioned to address this demand with their advanced wireless infrastructure processors," said Gideon Wertheizer, chief executive officer at CEVA.
CEVA is a licensor of silicon intellectual property (SIP) DSP Cores and platform solutions for the mobile handset, consumer electronics and storage markets. CEVA’s product line includes a variety of DSP cores.
CEVA-TeakLite-III is the successor of the CEVA-TeakLite and CEVA-TeakLite-II DSP cores, which allows a seamless migration path for existing applications and System-on- Chips (SoCs).
CEVA-TeakLite-III is a low power, dual Multiply-Accumulate (MAC), 32-bit fixed point DSP core running at speeds higher than 550 MHz in 65nm. The technology addresses multiple target applications, including low-cost 2G/2.5G/3G wireless baseband modems, wideband voice and audio processors, portable media players, femtocells, voice-over-IP residential gateways and High Definition (HD) audio applications requiring advanced audio standards, such as Dolby Digital Plus 7.1, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD.
"When selecting a DSP for our next-generation of cost-effective Femtocell (News - Alert) processors, the CEVA-TeakLite-III DSP emerged as the optimal solution, providing the ideal feature set and power/performance balance for our requirements," said Shlomo Gadot, chief executive officer at Percello.
Percello's processor architecture leverages CEVA-TeakLite-III DSP to deliver a highly-integrated and cost-effective Femtocell solution.
Wertheizer mentioned that this latest selection of its DSP cores for Femtocell applications is indicative of its continued expansion into new addressable markets beyond mobile handsets.
