voipGATE Supports .tel Top Level DomainvoipGATE has announced the support of the newly created Top Level Domain .tel one month before its launch. As a result of the cooperation with Telnic, the .tel domain names Registry, the upcoming version of voipGATE’s softphones will integrate all the .tel Directory services and functionalities.
Customers of the Luxembourg-based VoIP operator will have ease-of-access and contact management options provided by any .tel name. These extended capabilities will enhance the customer experience and create better positioning for the operator as it continues to compete in an intense market. Jorge Marques, COO of voipGATE, explained in a Tuesday statement, “voipGATE services are specifically dedicated to people always on the move, traveling from one country to the next, looking for an easy and fast way to be reachable and reach others.” “Integrating the .tel functionalities within our softphone interface will be a strong step forward, allowing people to store all their contacts’ details in one place, with phone calls only one-click away. Any voipGATE customer holding a .tel domain name can activate the functionality from its voipGATE softphone and will be able to manage and use its .tel information directly inside our softphone interface,” Marques added.
The whole range of voipGATE services will benefit from the .tel functionality and bring a more tailored experience to the end-user. Providing this tailored service lends to the benefits provided in personalization to drive greater adoption of this service. Marques continued, “If the person you are trying to reach through its .tel name is in a foreign country, the softphone will immediately detect this and connect you appropriately. This is one of the reasons why we are so glad that, much as voipGATE services, .tel is available from many devices, from cell phones to IP phones and desktop PCs." A .tel name allows a user to store, update and publish contact information, Web links and keywords directly on the Internet under a unique identifier. As such, it is considered the perfect fit for a service as versatile as voipGATE.
In addition, the .tel name also enables global discoverability in the first ‘live’, next-generation contacts directory, with keywords enhancing search engine optimization. Those voipGATE users holding a .tel domain instantly become more discoverable and reachable, online or otherwise. As a result of this partnership with Telnic, voipGATE is positioned as once again demonstrating its know-how and engagement towards the interconnected communication industry of the 21st Century. “voipGATE has been among the first companies we discussed with that saw the benefits of our open API platform for the .tel,” stated Henri Asseily, Telnic chief strategist officer, in Tuesday’s statement. “We are excited to work together and are sure voipGATE customers will benefit tremendously from their very own .tel domain names.” Don’t forget to check out TMCnet’s White Paper Library, which provides a selection of in-depth information on relevant topics affecting the IP Communications industry.
