WildPackets Intros VoIP Training Course

WildPackets reportedly has announced a new training course from WildPackets (News - Alert) Academy, “VoIP and Video Analysis and Troubleshooting.”

The company says the course will allow the users to learn about common VoIP issues and solutions.

The new training course, scheduled for February, focuses on network and protocol architecture for real-time voice and video transmission via data networks. The course will provide practical training on voice and video communication in IP-based networks and looks to empower the students to compete in today’s converged network market.

According to Tony Barbagallo, vice president of marketing for WildPackets, organizations of all sizes are rolling out Voice and Video over IP in hopes of lowering the costs of infrastructure and operations, not considering the challenges presented to network engineers.

“Our new training curriculum and assessment service will offer IT staff new techniques and best practices to efficiently deploy Voice and Video across their networks,” Barbagallo said.

The new age Unified communication often fails to meet the high expectation levels of the users. Thanks to the reliability and zero downtime of traditional land line communication system such as telephones, users believe that their unified communication system will perform the same way. Unfortunately, this is not always the case and this leaves many users high and dry.

This course tries to increase the skill levels of the students and helps them understand the state of their networks. The company hopes that this will allow them to support a converged IP telephony environment in a better way and meet the consumer expectations to a large extent.

With a mixture of lectures and labs, students can learn about various things such as measuring Quality of Service to ensure excellent voice quality; VoIP and Video Essentials, Technology, Protocols and Codecs, Public Switched Telephone Network and Signaling; competing VoIP Standards; network capacity and performance; and troubleshooting.

WildPackets has been expert in providing network based products. During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, China Mobile (News - Alert) picked up WildPackets’ OmniPeek portable network analyzer at 14 competition venues to identify network issues and prevent wireless outages. The OmniPeek analyzers were installed in various Olympic gymnasiums in Shanghai and Beijing, and in the “Bird Nest” National Stadium to keep tabs on wireless local area network (WLAN) and WiFi (News - Alert) applications.
