Verizon Business to Provide Secure Global Communications Network for Daimler AGVerizon Business is set to provide and manage a secure global communications network for Daimler AG, a global manufacturer of premium passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
To provide the company with the communications system it needs, a fully managed Verizon (News - Alert) Private IP and additional managed security solutions will be rolled out across Daimler’s operations in Africa, Canada, Europe, Mexico, the Middle East and the United States. Daimler is also expected to deploy Verizon Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solutions to transition its existing voice communications to an all-IP environment. This change should deliver significant cost savings and enhanced capabilities to the company. The criteria set forth by Daimler included enhanced security applications and additional capacity to support the efficient exchange of multimedia and data files. The company also wanted to enhance its management and reporting capabilities to ensure optimal network performance. The capability to quickly and easily deploy IP-based solutions such as VoIP was also sought in an effort to achieve business and operational efficiencies. Successfully achieving measurable improvements will not only increase productivity for Daimler, it also serves as demonstrated value for Verizon Business (News - Alert). The overall objective for Daimler was to maximize the potential of its global network to achieve fast and secure exchange of business-critical information. The company also sought to enhance employee and customer communications capabilities across its global operations. Connie Paquette, regional vice president, Verizon Business, commented in a Thursday statement: "Daimler is one of the world's best-known automotive brands, and is practically a byword for automotive excellence. Effective communications are critical for the operational effectiveness of the company.”
“As such, excellence in solution, service capability and global reach are key criteria in the selection of a business partner. Verizon Business has proven experience in supporting companies as they move toward next-generation, IP-based communications capabilities, and we look forward to working closely with Daimler to support its needs around the globe," Paquette added. Verizon Business is responsible for more than 260,000 devices and over 4,200 customer networks in 142 countries and territories. The company oversees non-Verizon connections from more than 60 network providers around the world. This latest contract win for Verizon Business is further proof of the value that the company can bring to any situation. Successful performance and measurable improvements will help to secure a stronger position for the already strong Verizon Business. For Daimler, the increases in productivity and efficiency will deliver significant benefits to the bottom. Susan J. Campbell is a contributing editor for TMCnet and has also written for eastbiz.com.
