Vonage Intros Annual VoIP Plan
By Johanne Torres, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Vonage (News - Alert) has gone a little low-key with its launch of an annual VoIP
calling plan by "secretly" notifying its current subscribers first. The service provider will now make available its Residential Premium Unlimited Plan as a yearly, $239.99 pre-paid offering.
By signing up for the annual plan, subscribers would save around $60 or 20 percent (depending on the subscriber's location) on the Residential Premium Unlimited Plan, which is regularly priced at $24.99 monthly.
The plan offers unlimited local and long distance calls anywhere in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and select European countries. It also offers features like voicemail plus, three-way calling, call waiting, call forwarding, caller ID with name and 911 dialing.
Vonage has not posted any information about this offer on its Web site yet. However, the VoIP Minute Watch obtained a number for all readers to sign up for the new plan: 1-800-706-9830.
Other VoIP annual calling plans in the market include 8x8's Freedom Annual plan and SunRocket's (News - Alert) Annual Edition VoIP calling plan, both priced at $199 yearly. Skype also introduced a new annual, paid subscription Unlimited VoIP Calling plan last month. Skype (News - Alert), however is giving its users a whole year of unlimited SkypeOut calling to any phone within the U.S. and Canada for less than $30.
