Voice over Internet protocol services provider FeatureTel has reportedly selected the Tekelec (News - Alert) 6000 VoIP Application Server to enable hosted private branch exchange (PBX (News - Alert)) services.

Headquartered in Apex, N.C., FeatureTel is a facilities-based carrier that delivers managed VoIP services to businesses in the southeast United States. Tekelec’s flexible, feature-rich, scalable application server enables tailored service packages and supports the carrier’s growth plans.

According to FeatureTel CEO Paul Levering, the Tekelec 6000 was selected since it supports their customized, enterprise-class hosted PBX services while improving service delivery and customer support capabilities.

Levering believes that Tekelec’s solutions are proven to scale as they grow their footprint while also helping them to control operational and capital expenditures.

As a standards-based carrier grade VoIP platform and session border controller the Tekelec 6000 works with a wide range of network equipment and protocols and can scale to support many hundreds of thousands of users in a widely distributed network.

A complete range of next-generation services can be deployed by the operators. These services include softphone with multimedia capabilities, conferencing, find-me, and intelligent Web portal, unified messaging and voice mail capabilities.

Thanks to its IP multimedia service control interface and session initiation protocol profiling capabilities Tekelec 6000 is one of the first feature-rich VoIP application servers to support IP multimedia subsystem networks.

“FeatureTel has created a distinguished reputation for superior quality and customer service, and its decision to deploy Tekelec’s VoIP application server demonstrates our unique ability to meet these demanding standards,” said Jay Whitehurst, president and general manager, Tekelec Switching Solutions Group in a press release.

He continued: “As the demand for VoIP grows, Tekelec will continue to equip operators with the most customizable set of applications, making quality solutions available for all types of subscribers.”

FeatureTel is North Carolina’s VoIP Telephone Company for business. Its fully managed and hosted IP Telephony service provides businesses with an alternative to the traditional IP PBX and traditional voice solutions.

Tekelec is a high-performance network applications company that is accelerating the transition to IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) networks for service providers around the globe.
