Global IP Solutions, a provider of IP multimedia processing solutions, has announced that KT Networks will be adding a powerful new voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) feature to its Windows Mobile smartphone, which includes high definition (HD) voice capabilities from GIPS.

South Korea based KT (News - Alert) Networks is part of KT. The company provides networking solutions, from consulting services tailored to its customer’s needs, to system build-up, operation, maintenance and control. KTN’s areas of business include; VoIP, Wibro (WiMax), U-city, high-speed Internet services and on-premises communication services.

“KT Networks is a company that creates value for our customers and we are committed to developing high-quality products that exceed our customers' expectations,” said Kim Young-Joo, vice president at KT Networks, in a statement.

KT Networks’ feature-rich smartphone was developed to address the growth in consumer demand, which currently continues to outpace the rest of the mobile phone market, said KT officials.

Kim said that company knew that it was necessary to use a VoIP product for KT Networks’ smartphone that would provide customers with “superior voice quality,” especially under challenged network conditions.

He added that GIPS was able to handle all the complex voice processing tasks that met KT Networks exacting standards.

“By selecting GIPS VoiceEngine technology, KT Networks has validated the quality of GIPS’ products above all our competitors,” said Emerick Woods, chief executive officer at GIPS, in a statement.

Woods said that company’s technology and skills will enable KT Networks to clearly differentiate themselves from the competition by providing HD voice capabilities on a mobile phone.

GIPS VoiceEngine is capable of providing HD voice quality on mobile phones. This enables clear, consistent conversation in addition to optimizing bandwidth on congested networks.

Earlier this year, GIPS signed agreements with VoIP technology companies Xener Systems (News - Alert) Inc. and CommuniGate Systems Inc. Both the agreements include platform fees, professional service fees and royalties.
