CEO Jim Dalton (News - Alert) of Atlanta-based TransNexus – a company that provides software for least-cost routing, traffic reporting, profitability analysis and billing for VoIP networks –will be speaking Thursday September 3, 2009 at TMC’s ITEXPO (News - Alert) giving an introduction to local number portability.

The conference session, titled, “Intro to Local Number Portability: What VoIP Providers Need to Know,” will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

According to Dalton, misrouted calls still get completed, so end-users do not realize that there’s a service issue.

“But the service provider gets stuck with a termination charge larger than necessary because the call was not routed to the lowest cost provider,” Dalton told TMC President Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) in an interview. “TransNexus (News - Alert) will be releasing a new version of its free OSPrey routing server which will include the ability to host locally, or query, the U.S. number portability database managed by NeuStar (News - Alert).”

The ITEXPO West 2009 presentation will be a tutorial on local number portability. It will explain in detail how LNP works and why it can save VoIP operators money and improve their service. The presentation will focus on providing practical details on how VoIP operators can implement LNP using freely available software.
