By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor

France Telecom’s (News - Alert) flagship brand Orange Business Services has reportedly renewed its five-year, $38 million communications infrastructure agreement with Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines, or NOL.

NOL is a container shipping, terminals and logistics group with operations spanning more than 400 locations in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Middle East.
Orange will be responsible for the end-to-end deployment of NOL’s MPLS-based IP VPN communications infrastructure, right from design and implementation to management. The communications infrastructure is pivotal to NOL’s seamless delivery of complex international container shipping logistics and terminal management services.
Orange will provide several advanced technologies to NOL including managed IP Telephony, advanced messaging and unified communications solutions. With support from Orange, NOL will be able to consolidate and simplify network and vendor management and bring down network complexity and administration costs.
“To manage a global business of the size and complexity of the NOL Group, we need an extensive, secure and reliable communications infrastructure, which also helps us deliver greater operational efficiency and cost savings,” said Choy Peng Wu, Group Chief Information Officer of NOL. “We know we can depend on Orange Business Services (News - Alert) to deliver on these core needs.”
“Orange Business Services is proud to provide its expertise and services to Neptune Orient Lines, a world leader in the container shipping, marine terminals and logistics sectors,” said Yee-May Leong, senior vice president Asia Pacific, Orange Business Services. “NOL’s renewal of our services underscores our strengths in IP services, technology innovation and unrivalled global reach. With Orange, NOL is able to reduce the number of global suppliers and simplify operational support with cost-effective communications.”
One of the world’s leading telecommunications operators, Orange boasts a base of 123 million customers in 220 countries and territories worldwide, with IP VPN access available in 151 countries. In addition, it has dedicated teams in more than 166 countries and territories.
France Telecom’s flagship brand, Orange was placed in the Leaders quadrant in Gartner (News - Alert) Inc.’s Magic Quadrant for Asia/Pacific Network Service Providers, as per a recent TMCnet report.
