Samaritan Hospital Selects SEN Group for Wire-Free Patient Zone
By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor
Samaritan Hospital, a 100-year-old acute care facility in Ashland, Ohio, has selected Siemens Enterprise Communications (News - Alert) Group’s, or “SEN Group,” voice and data connectivity to provide secure wireless connectivity for VoIP telephony and networked medical devices, including state-of-the-art wireless patient monitors.
The SEN Group solution would provide unified communications platform for Samaritan Hospital's 750 employees across seven locations, empowering them to deliver better quality of care to patients.
"Prior to the Siemens (News - Alert) Enterprise Communications Group deployment, our network infrastructure was best described as the 'Wild West': unreliable, with limited visibility into access policies," Mike Miller, network manager at Samaritan Hospital, said.
And, with the hospitals goals to leveraging technology and provide a better healthcare environment, the hospital’s network was holding it back from moving forward.
Since implementing the SEN Group solution, the hospital has seen a significant increase in network efficiency, coupled with a decrease in help desk tickets across the entire hospital.
“The NMS Policy Manager has truly been a lifesaver for me and my team. We have unprecedented visibility into the network that has given us the ability to create and enforce compliance policies that are crucial in the healthcare industry”, Miller said.
Implementation, configuration and everyday management of the network was easy to learn and maintain, thanks to the support the hospital received from the SEN Group team.
“Today, my small staff of two administrators can focus on giving support to caregivers in the hospital instead of troubleshooting the network," Miller said.
Earlier this month, the SEN Group and Netlink, one of the U.S.-based providers of IT solutions, entered into a strategic global sales and service partnership.
