Kabel Noord Selects ARRIS DOCSIS 3.0 C4 CMTS PlatformN.V. Kabeltelevisie Noord-Oost Friesland, known as Kabel Noord, reportedly has selected the ARRIS DOCSIS 3.0 C4 CMTS platform to increase the data speeds it offers its 25,000 customers in the northeastern areas of Friesland in the Netherlands.
Kabel Noord currently offers access to its own ISP, KNID, as well as those from two other Dutch MSOs, UPC and Ziggo (News - Alert), and intends to use the DOCSIS 3.0 C4 platform to consolidate the three services to upgrade and manage the various traffic flows from inside its network, company officials said.
"We selected the ARRIS C4 CMTS platform for our data service upgrade because it specifically addressed the needs and architecture of a system our size," Kabel Noord CTO Anton van der Hoek said.
Van der Hoek said that combining several providers on to one platform gives the company the flexibility and reliability that are critical for the service plan.
Claudio Cerioli, ARRIS senior vice president, sales for EMEA, said that the selection of the company’s C4 CMTS platform testifies to its ability to scale to meet the architectural needs of systems of all sizes and all environments.
The company supplies broadband operators with the tools and platforms they need to deliver reliable telephony demand driven video, next-generation advertising and high-speed data services.
ARRIS had announced that Bresnan Communications has selected the ARRIS DOCSIS 3.0 C4 CMTS platform to deploy high speed data, hosted VoIP and commercial services in four of its Northwestern U.S. markets, Kalispell and Helena, MT and Gillette and Casper, WY.
