By Raja Singh Chaudhary, TMCnet Contributor
InnerPass, a provider of fully integrated Web 2.0-based persistent business collaboration services has announced more than 1.5 million Skype (News - Alert) users utilize its application to share and collaborate with their friends and known ones. The company provides a unique business application called InnerPass that helps the users communicate effectively by integrating meetings, Internet communications via Skype, and persistent file sharing and storage.
Every two months the number of users using Skype who adopt InnerPass gets doubled, and the company currently serves over 30,000 users a day with persistent business collaboration services, company officials said.
In the tech age of today, a number of Web 2.0-based business collaboration tools are helping the enterprises worldwide for fulfilling their communication needs, including WebEx, Microsoft (News - Alert) Live and GoToMeeting for meetings, Skype for VOIP, and SharePoint and Google Docs for file sharing. InnerPass is a unique collaboration tool that integrates all these three services, viz. meetings, Internet communications via Skype and file sharing, to offer a fully integrated Web 2.0-based persistent service.
The application features an InnerPass Shared Folder, that works like a shared folder created upon a very large, secure shared computer that is accessible on the Internet. Only the creating user has the key to that shared folder and he or she can give a copy of that key to anyone you want. The users can create virtual shared folder to organize their files under a topic, an event or a client project.
Folder participants including hosts and invited guests can be allowed to upload files and invite their own guests to the shared folder for a truly collaborative work area. Using the integrated Skype functionality any participant can initiate a conference call or a group chat session, and while the meeting is taking place participants can be allowed to view or modify files in the shared folder.
The shared folders are “persistent” as they are always open and available for access anytime by any of the participants to them.
InnerPass also offers a feature called Instant Desktop Sharing that provides the users with a quick and easy way to host a live Web meeting, which is also known to the industry as desktop sharing and screen sharing. The presenter can share his or her screen with other folder participants. A single “share” button starts the session and all guests receive a quick-link to join the live meeting through both e-mail and the Skype chat window.
The InnerPass application is equipped with various integrated Skype features, that make conference calling easy for the users, company sources said. They can start a conference call with guests in a folder using a single Skype call button, so that everyone in the folder will be called. To extend the group conversation users can also start a group instant chat with the same participants, and can also provide the meeting participants with a traditional conference dial-in number.
According to Steve Parsloe, CEO and president of InnerPass, InnerPass’ business got invigorated after it developed an application using the open Skype platform. Parsloe noted that while the company is excited to already have 1.5 million Skype users utilizing InnerPass, he expects it to grow more in the future.
