Nortel (News - Alert) Carrier VoIP and Application Solutions, or “CVAS,” announced that their Communication Server, or “CS,” 1500 regional Class 5 solution has been integrated with GENBAND’S G2 Compact Gateway (News - Alert).
The integrated system helps regional carriers using several widely deployed, but no longer supported, third party legacy switches to consolidate their Class 5 offices through seamless migration to VoIP. The system is completely integrated into Nortel’s operations and is fully backed by Nortel’s service and support team.
The unique CS 1500 system provides many benefits to Nortel’s TDM customer base: easy migration to IP, cost savings and introduction to the world of powerful SIP applications.
Users can deploy Nortel’s CS 1500 regional Class 5 VoIP solution and the G2 (News - Alert) together and experience a 50 percent savings when replacing a legacy switch. Company officials said that companies save money as the legacy line equipment is preserved while the core is completely modernized with IP switching and gateway equipment. A modernized core allows regional providers to deliver innovative applications to subscribers.
John E. Koller, vice president, ATC Communications, said that their aim is to provide their customers with the latest and most innovative telecommunications services and products available. The company also wants to ensure that their customers have reliable carrier-grade communications service.
The integrated Nortel-GENBAND (News - Alert) system helps ATC Communications to meet that objective as it enables them to seamlessly and cost-effectively migrate their legacy TDM network to IP. Additionally, Koller added that this happens without disrupting their subscriber's communications experience.
Samih Elhage, president, CVAS, Nortel, said that their company is investing in innovative regional Class 5 VoIP solutions to enable regional carriers to migrate their legacy networks to IP in an easy and more cost-effective manner.
The migration will also help them to improve their ability to meet subscriber needs today, while also providing a foundation to launch new revenue-generating voice and multimedia services in the future.
“Nortel has a proven competency in delivering best-in-class carrier IP solutions that evolve legacy networks to IP,” Elhage said. “We have migrated over 36 million TDM lines to IP with 99 percent accuracy and we continue to be a trusted partner to many regional carriers looking to make the transition.”
