Global Sports Broadcast Network Selects Glowpoint's Managed Service

A major global sports broadcast network reportedly has selected Glowpoint’s managed service for a new program scheduled to air on the network and its web site.

Glowpoint (News - Alert) officials said that the customer, whose name is undisclosed due the network’s confidentiality policies, has signed an agreement with the company with an initial value of $250,000 per year that includes services to be paid for on a monthly recurring basis.

As part of the agreement, Glowpoint will provide managed video services and network services, to interconnect ten NFL team locations with the network’s broadcast studio.

This unique application allows for two-way interviews and content acquisition, using video conferencing equipment in conjunction with Glowpoint’s managed video service.

After evaluating various options, the network selected Glowpoint’s solution, which offers video and audio capabilities combined.

The Glowpoint solution allows for discreet audio, so the production staff can communicate live with show hosts without the fear of interviewees being interrupted.

Company officials said that Glowpoint’s Telepresence (News - Alert) interExchange Network (TEN) service will provide broadcast-quality, versatile, real-time video communications at a highly competitive price versus traditional, satellite-based offerings.

“Glowpoint continues to be recognized as a flexible, high-quality solution with compelling value for the broadcast industry. This particular broadcast solution will go beyond typical on-air programming to a broadband community that can view the show worldwide,” said Dan Boland (News - Alert), vice president of broadcast services, Glowpoint, in a statement.

Dan Boland said that as broadcasters seek to expand their reach for both on-air and online properties, the company expects to see increased traction and acceptance in this market.

Glowpoint, Inc. is a provider of advanced video communications solutions.

Back in September Glowpoint announced that a widely recognized global financial institution selected Glowpoint to provide its managed video services.

The firm is registering with Glowpoint’s Telepresence interExchange Network and will receive QOS video connectivity and secure B2B calling capabilities. Glowpoint is managing multiple domestic sites for the firm, which also expects to add a host of international locations to the managed service in the coming months.
