Cambridge Technology to Acquire smartShift

Cambridge Technology Enterprises (CTE), a global business and technology services company, reportedly has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire smartShift GmbH (smartShift), a major player in tools–based modernization services for complex IT systems.
In a release, CTE officials said the acquisition uniquely positions the company to take advantage of the fast growing cloud services market, which according to IDC (News - Alert) is expected to reach $44.2 billion worldwide by 2013.
With this acquisition, CTE is entering into EU market with a development center in Germany and a number of marquee European reference accounts.
CTE is expanding smartShift’s IP to automate the process of cloud-enabling applications.
“With the smartShift acquisition, we are expanding our capabilities to help our clients accelerate their migration to the cloud.” said, Bhaskar Panigrahi, CEO of CTE, in the release.
Panigrahi said the company will also leverage its remote management service capabilities to manage applications in the cloud thus providing an end-to-end solution to the clients.
“smartShift has been focused on automating complex migration problems,” said Stefan Hetges, CEO of smartShift.
Hetges said the company is excited about joining forces with CTE and applying its deep expertise to migration of applications to the cloud.
In September, Cambridge Technology had announced that the company's software development and delivery center in Hyderabad, India has been successfully appraised at Maturity Level 5 Ver 1.2 of Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for development and maintenance projects in accordance with the SCAMPI methodology.(Standard CMMI Appraisal Methodology for Process Improvement )
CMMI Maturity Level 5 is the highest level of process maturity that independently verifies an organization's capabilities to continuously enhance its processes through incremental and innovative process and technological improvements.
CMMI Maturity Level 5 affirms the organization's ability to statistically manage the sub-processes in order to achieve process and business objectives.
Since its inception in 1999, CTE has given paramount importance in deploying strong processes for software development catering to various business verticals, achieving CMM Level 4 in 2003, CMM Level 5 in 2005 and CMM Level 5 Ver 1.2 now in 2009.
