2010 FIFA World Cup organizers congratulates Nigeria on qualification
LAGOS, Nov 15, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
The 2010 FIFA World Cup Local
Organizing Committee in South Africa on Saturday congratulated
Nigeria for its qualification.
"Nigeria's qualification is exciting as it is one of the big
countries which bring quality to the World Cup," the News Agency
of Nigeria quoted Danny Jordaan, chief executive officer of the
committee, as saying on Sunday.
According to him, with Nigeria joining other African countries,
which had earlier qualified, the chances of seeing an African
country in the finals was brighter.
"It's becoming more possible to see an African country in the
finals of the World Cup and I am very happy," Jordaan said. He
said Nigeria was on the verge of having a very good weekend as it
was poised to carry the U-17 FIFA World Cup in Abuja on Sunday.
"Nigeria seems set to have a very good weekend with Sunday's
final," Jordaan said.
Rich Mkhondo, chief communication officer of the committee,
said: "We are very excited Nigeria is coming; the World Cup would
have been incomplete without them."
