Team Space Business Telephony Bridges Communication Distances
By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor
Sococo, the social communications service company, advertised its award winning, flagship product-Team Space Business Telephony- at the Web 2.0 Expo, San Francisco. This public beta program was directed at Team Space Users. It enabled them to keep in touch with other team members or guests through Public Switched Telephone Network phone numbers.
Business Telephony has the advantage of enabling users to talk to multiple people and include them in a meeting, even if they are not online. Every conference room has a speakerphone icon. When users click on the icon, a dial pad for calling out appears.
Whoever is contacted, is represented in the meeting with an avatar. This is displayed whenever that person speaks and all other attendees see that person as part of the meeting, even though the dialog is through a telephone. The billing mechanism for calling out will be similar to other plans where users pre-pay in small increments for calls made to landline and mobile phones.
Team Space provides voice, chat, multi-screen sharing in a spatial user interface that enables distributed teams to stay in contact throughout the workday effortlessly regardless of their location. People staying thousands of miles away can drop in on friends to talk or share information. They can even drop into office or conference rooms to listen to what is going on and make themselves be heard if the need arises.
Unlike Skype (News
- Alert) and GoToMeeting, Sococo Team Space provides a spatial user interface and an always on-environment making it easier to share applications and information through online communications. Plans are afoot to integrate Skype SILK audio codec for improved audio quality into Team Space.
In a press release, Paul Brody, president said, “Distributed teams always have someone who cannot login and must be reached by phone and Team Space Business Telephony addresses this issue to improve the efficiency of teams using Team Space.
Team Space is available on a subscription basis through a variety of payment plans with a free 30 day trial offering.
In a related news release, Sococo announced the release of Team Screens for Team Space, which enables users to place and keep browser and desktop-based applications in their Team Space rooms and creates a way to not only share multiple applications during live meetings but also have persistent access to favorite cloud-based applications at any time day or night.
